It’s hard to believe it’s only been six days since Charlie Kirk, the influential conservative commentator and activist, was killed in broad daylight by what has quickly become this generation’s “shot heard round the world.”
Outrage and grief have been galvanized into a collective decision that “this is a turning point,” that there is no going back from what has just happened.
Millions of young people are now being said to be prepared to take his place.
And yet, as you may have heard from others…he was the nice version of what he stood for.
Charlie Kirk was, indeed, a very decent man. Known for his willingness to engage in people with opposing worldviews, often putting his microphone down as opponents spoke so he could listen intently and earnestly.
He said a lot of things people hated, but he did what every American should have appreciated – created an open platform for respectful, civic debate.
